Crime Branch gets 10-day custody of Lawrence Bishnoi

New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) A court here on Thursday sent top gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to 10 days custody of the Delhi Police's Crime Branch.
The Crime Branch produced Bishnoi before the Saket court and sought his custodial remand.
"Saket Court has handed over Lawrence Bishnoi to the Crime Branch for a 10-day police custody. Earlier, the Special Cell had interrogated Lawrence Bishnoi regarding the extortion and firing cases involving him and his brother Anmol Bishnoi in the Sunlight Colony area," a senior police official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said.
At the instructions of Lawrence Bishnoi, three juveniles allegedly opened fire at the house of a businessman in Sunlight Colony.
All three juveniles had been apprehended by the Crime Branch from Rajasthan.
"Upon being caught, all three admitted to firing shots on the instructions of Lawrence's brother, Anmol. Anmol operates Lawrence's gang from abroad. In the same case, the Crime Branch has taken Lawrence Bishnoi into custody on remand from Saket Court," a police officer said.
Expressing shock that four Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) functionaries had been appointed Chairmen of Improvement Trusts, which had been dissolved by the government, SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia said "the AAP government has achieved the dubious distinction of touching new lows day after day."

Punjab Police have busted an extortion racket, backed by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, with the arrest of its three operatives, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday. Those arrested have been identified as Rohit Bharadwaj of Zirkapur and Mohit Bharadwaj and Arjun Thakur, both of Chandigarh.
Mann claimed that Channi's nephew Jashan had allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 2 crore from the cricketer for giving him a job against an exam of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) cleared by him.
A corruption case has been registered against him and his wife, Kamal Kapoor, after the allegations of acquiring unaccounted assets were proven in a vigilance probe. The Vigilance Bureau has been granted a three-day police remand for questioning.
