Court Equally Responsible, Says BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj on Violence By Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Dera

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Aug, 2017 12:36 PM
BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj, coming out in support of Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s followers, questioned the law in a veiled manner, saying, “One person alleged sexual exploitation, but thousands of people are standing with Dera chief, why their voices are not being heard?”

Holding the court responsible for the present scenario in Punjab and Haryana, the BJP MP added, “If even bigger incidents take place, the court will also be responsible, not just Dera people.”

“In a strategic manner, a conspiracy is being hatched to defame the Indian culture,” the Unnao lawmaker remarked.

As per reports, BJP high command expressed unhappiness with Sakshi Maharaj on his remarks on Ram Rahim.

Punjab and Haryana witnessed violence today after Dera Sacha Sauda chief was arrested as he was proved guilty in the sexual exploitation case that dates back to 2002. Protesters of the self-claimed Godman turned violent and set many vehicles on fire in Panchkula after the verdict landed against Rahim. 29 people were killed and more than 250 injured in the violence that disrupted the peace of the two states.

The severe impact forced more than 250 trains bound towards Punjab and Haryana to stay off tracks. And all train going towards Rohtak have been cancelled for tomorrow, informed Neeraj Sharma, CPRO of Northern Railways to news agency ANI. The self-claimed Godman is currently lodged in the guest house of Rohtak prison until court on August 28 announces the quantum of punishment.

A sexual exploitation case was registered against the Dera chief in 2002 by the CBI on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court after anonymous letters were circulated about the alleged sexual exploitation of two ‘female followers by Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The Dera chief had denied these charges.
