Congress Leader And Former MP Sukhdev Singh Libra Dies After Prolonged Illness

    Congress leader and former MP Sukhdev Singh Libra passed away on Friday morning after a prolonged illness, family members said.


    Sukhdev Singh Libra died at the age of 87.


    Presently, he was living at village Libra near Khanna in Ludhiana district.


    Libra was close to late former SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra.


    He was the member of the 14th and 15th Lok Sabhas. He was also a Punjab MLA in 1985. He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1998-2004.


    Libra had represented Fatehgarh Sahib and Ropar parliamentary constituencies.


    Earlier, he had contested elections on Congress ticket but later, he rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal.


    He had also served as a member of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
