Chandigarh Records Two Degrees Celsius Temperature, Punjab Shivers Too

    Chandigarh recorded the season's coldest night Sunday as the minimum temperature hit a low of two degrees Celsius.
     
    As intense cold swept across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, the minimum temperatures at most places were recorded between two and four degrees Celsius, weather officials said Sunday.
     
    Dense fog prevailed in Punjab with visibility reduced to less than 50 metres at some places Sunday morning.
     
    In Ludhiana and Patiala, visibility was reduced to less than 50 metres due to fog.
     
    Foggy conditions and a cold wave continued to affect normal life in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Moderate to dense fog enveloped most towns and cities, affecting road and railway traffic.
     
    Flights to and from Chandigarh airport have been affected for the past one week.
     
     
    Amritsar city recorded the maximum temperature of just 10.6 degrees Celsius, eight degrees below normal, Saturday, making it the coldest day of the month. The minimum temperature here Sunday was four degrees.
     
    Chandigarh was slightly warmer with the maximum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius Saturday, five degrees below normal. The maximum temperatures in other places in Punjab and Haryana hovered between 13 and 20 degrees.
     
    Met officials said the cold wave and foggy conditions will continue for the next few days.
