CBI arrests two civic officials for taking bribe

    The CBI Tuesday arrested two officials of Delhi's civic agency MCD after they were caught taking bribe.
     
    "A junior engineer and a beldar of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000," said a statement from the the Central Bureau of Investigation.
     
    Both were posted at the Najafgarh zone of MCD.
     
    The investigating agency said the junior engineer had demanded Rs.1.5 lakh to allow the construction of a four-storey building.
     
    "A trap was laid and both the accused were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000 as part payment of the bribe," the statement said.
     
    Both the accused were sent to judicial custody after being presented before a Delhi court.
