Border Security Force (BSF) troopers on Sunday caught two people and seized four kg of heroin on the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Amritsar sector, a senior BSF officer said.
The heroin was recovered near Border out Post (BoP) Fatehpur, nearly 300 km from here, in the Amritsar sector early Sunday.
The BSF also seized a 9mm pistol, two pistol magazines and 15 rounds of live ammunition from the spot.
BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) R.S. Kataria said the BSF troopers noticed two Indian nationals throwing packets over the fence. Th two were identified later as Ranjha Singh and Sonu Kumar Sharma of Amritsar district. They were working in agricultural fields in the Indian territory ahead of the border fence.
Both were apprehended by the BSF and later handed over to Punjab Police.
The heroin is valued at Rs.20 crore in the international market.
