Book On Baba Ramdev's Life: Delhi Court Restrains Publication, Sale

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Aug, 2017 12:56 PM
A publishing company on Friday said a court has restrained it from selling a book on yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

Juggernaut Books said in a statement that a district court here "restrained us from publication and sale of 'Godman to Tycoon: The Untold Story of Baba Ramdev'". It said it got a copy of the court order on Thursday.

The company said the order was passed ex-parte without hearing the publisher or author Priyanka Pathak-Narain in order to avoid a "delay which would be caused during the process of serving the notice and hearing the defendants.

"The allegation of defamation must certainly be heard in the courts and we welcome the chance to defend our book," it said.

Juggernaut said the book contained a detailed 25-page note on sources and the interviews, articles, police reports and RTI replies used by the author.

It said "Godman to Tycoon" was a work of "serious journalism".

"As the matter is sub justice, we cannot comment on the merits of the case. However, we stand by our book, will defend the case and will move the court to vacate the injunction."
