Badal to lead Swachh Bharat campaign in Punjab

    Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would lead the Swachh Bharat campaign with a state-level function at Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district Thursday.
     
    Government employees across the state have been asked to report to their offices at 9 a.m. to participate in the Mission Swachh Bharat to be launched Thursday on Gandhi Jayanti.
     
    "All employees of Punjab (government) would report to their offices at 9 a.m. and after taking the oath of cleanliness, they would participate in this campaign for two hours. The chief minister would administer the oath of cleanliness to the people including officers/officials at Talwandi Sabo whereas ministers and other dignitaries would administer the oath of cleanliness at district headquarters," an official spokesman said.
     
    Oct 2 is a national holiday otherwise on which all government offices and institutions and private educational institutions remain closed.
     
    The state chief secretary would administer the oath to the officials posted at civil secretariat in Chandigarh. In various boards and corporations, civic and statutory bodies, the head of the organization would lead the function. 
     
    The spokesperson said that such function would be held at all schools, colleges, technical universities, training institutes, hospitals and police stations.
     
    "Similar functions would be organised in every panchayat where the sarpanch (village headman) would administer the oath," the spokesperson said.
