Arvind Kejriwal Slams President's Rule In Arunachal Pradesh

Darpan News Desk, 26 Jan, 2016 12:04 PM
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday criticised imposition of President's rule in Arunachal Pradesh, invoking BJP veteran L.K. Advani's concern about "emergency-like conditions" in the country.

"President Rule in Arunachal Pradesh. Advani ji was right in saying that there are emergency like conditions in the country," Kejriwal tweeted after President Pranab Mukherjee gave his approval to union cabinet's recommendation to impose central rule in the northeastern border state.

Kejriwal had said on Monday that the cabinet's recommendation of imposing President's rule in Arunachal Pradesh, suspending an elected government, was "against the constitution".

In an interview to a newspaper in June 2015, Advani had said: "At the present point of time, the forces that can crush democracy, notwithstanding the constitutional and legal safeguards, are stronger."

Kejriwal had then too supported Advani's statement.
