Arvind Kejriwal Says Will Implement Hazare's Lokpal Suggestions

Darpan News Desk IANS, 01 Dec, 2015 10:48 AM
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday thanked Anna Hazare for supporting the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill, saying he will "surely" implement the changes proposed by the social activist.

"Anna ji, thank you for your support and blessings. We will surely implement your suggestions," Kejriwal tweeted, quoting a news report regarding Hazare's support and suggestions for improvement in Jan Lokpal.

Earlier in the day, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Kumar Vishwas and Sanjay Singh met Hazare at Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.

After the meeting, Hazare told reporters that he would step in if the central government puts obstructions in the way of the Jan Lokpal Bill introduced in the Delhi assembly.

Hazare and some members of his team had in 2012 parted ways with the Kejriwal-led group, opposing the plan to form a political party, 18 months after they came together to launch an anti-graft movement.

According to the Bill, the three-member Jan Lokpal "may proceed to inquire or investigate into the allegation of 'corruption' occurring in the National Capital Territory of Delhi."

The ombudsman, proposed in the bill, will have the power of civil court and will complete its investigation within six months. In the rarest of rare cases, the investigation will have to be completed within a year.
