An anonymous donor has pledged $1.6 million to 40 Grade 8 students in Leamington, Ont.

The 40 students at Queen of Peace elementary school have each received a $40,000 scholarship, provided these students choose to stay within the Catholic school system.

"He believes in post-secondary education and in Catholic education. He believes in the value of a faith-based education," said Stephen Fields, WECDSB spokesperson.

The identity of the donor has not been revealed due to his choice to remain anonymous.
