Akali Dal constitutes 15-member manifesto committee for Lok Sabha polls

Chandigarh, April 3 (IANS) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday announced the formation of a 15-member manifesto committee for the Lok Sabha polls in Punjab for 13 seats slated on June 1.

He said the committee has 15 members and, in addition, six members have been added as special invitees, he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya on Monday to participate in the Pran Pratishtha programme of the Ram temple. A galaxy of VIP guests from different walks of life also arrived at the venue, much in advance, to witness the historic event.

A Delhi court on Thursday denied bail to Neelam Azad, one of the six accused in the December 13, 2023, Parliament security breach case. Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur of Patiala House Court pronounced the order after having it reserved on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the Delhi Police had opposed Azad’s bail plea, saying that the material and documentary evidence demonstrate her involvement in the offence, making her ineligible for release on bail.
The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court granting bail to Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira in a 2015 drug smuggling case. A bench, headed by Justice Bela M. Trivedi, dismissed the special leave petition filed by the Punjab government against the decision passed by the High Court on January 4.
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation mayoral election was postponed on Thursday as presiding officer Anil Masih was unwell. In the afternoon, the administration announced the election to the posts of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor would be held on February 6. High drama was witnessed as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress councillors registered their protest over the postponement of the polls at the last minute.
