After respite from rain, Punjab, Haryana likely to get fog

Darpan News Desk IANS, 15 Dec, 2014 10:40 AM
Most parts of Punjab and Haryana got respite from rainfall Monday afternoon but weather officials warned that both states would get shallow fog and mist in the coming three days.

The rainfall over the past 24 hours across most places in Punjab and Haryana brought down the maximum temperatures by two to four degrees. The skies remained overcast in the region, weather officials said here Monday.

They said that the next three days would largely see clear skies and sunshine while foggy conditions are likely this week.

Amritsar was the coldest in the plains with the minimum temperature recorded at 3.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum here was 18.4 degrees, four notches below average.

Other places across Punjab and Haryana were a little bit warmer with the minimum temperatures slightly above the average.

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 9.3 degrees Celsius Monday, two degrees above average. The high here was 18.5 degrees.

In Haryana, the minimum temperature at Ambala (9.9), Hisar (10.3) and Karnal (10.2) was warmer by two to three degrees.

In Punjab, Ludhiana (7.9) and Patiala (10.7) also were warmer, the temperatures being one and four degrees Celsius above average respectively.

The maximum temperatures at most places in both states hovered between 18 to 20 degrees, two to four degrees below average.

Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh received widespread rain Saturday and Sunday. The rain brought in the chill factor.
