Punjab Police have busted an international drug trafficking syndicate that used jackets to smuggle heroin into the state, with the arrest of its two operatives and recovered three half-sleeve jackets stashed with 500 gm heroin in each from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here on Friday. Those arrested have been identified as Sukhdeep Singh, alias Raja, a resident of Faridkot, and Krishan, a resident of Rohtak.
In a sensational crime, Maya Ashok Ankola, mother of ex-cricketer and Bollywood actor Salil Ankola, was found dead with her throat slit at their home in Pune, police said on Friday.

Tamil Nadu Police said that it has detained 600 workers of Samsung Electronics and trade union members for organising a street protest. The demonstration was organized at the home appliances plant of Samsung Electronics as 1,000 workers of the plant in Sriperumbudur, Chennai were on a strike since September 9 demanding higher wages and recognition of the trade union at the factory of the global electronics major.
The Prime Minister said on Tuesday in a post on X: "Today is the third and last round of voting in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
