23 Mar, 2020 08:15 PM

An astounding 84 per cent of people in India believe that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is handling the unprecedented coronavirus outbreak well.

According to a survey conducted by C-VOTER Gallup International Association, India ranks second in the world when it comes to people having faith in how their government is handling the entire situation.

The survey had put forth a flurry of questions before the people of 22 countries, seeking their views on the pandemic.

More than 20,000 people were interviewed via telephone or online for the survey.

In the survey, 58 per cent Indians strongly agreed and 26 per cent merely agreed with a statement -- I think the government is handling the coronavirus well. Fourteen per cent of people, however, disagreed with it.

In contrast, 72 per cent of Italians, 60 per cent of Pakistanis and 42 per cent of people belonging to the US agreed with the statement.

Over 15,000 people have died from Covid-19 globally. In India, the number of cases have surged past 420, with eight people succumbing to the dreaded virus.
