70-Year-Old Woman Found With Throat Slit In Delhi

Darpan News Desk IANS, 03 Nov, 2015 11:17 AM
A 70-year-old woman was on Tuesday afternoon found with her throat slit at her residence in the national capital, police said.

The woman -- identified as Hasina -- was found with multiple injuries in her home in Mayur Vihar area of east Delhi.

"Hasina lived alone in her residence. Some days ago, her brother's 15-year-old granddaughter, Nargis, came to Delhi for studies and started living with her," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Bhairon Singh told IANS.

"When Nargis came back from school around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, she found Hasina lying in a pool of blood and called police with the help of neighbours."

"The wounds on the throat and other body parts appear to have been caused by a sharp object such as a chopper or a knife. Also, her gold chain and bracelet were missing," the officer said.

Stating that there were no indications at the door of Hasina's house that suggested forced entry, he said it could only mean that the victim knew her murderer.

"The way Hasina was killed, it appears the murderer is not a thief," the police officer added.

Investigation has started and the woman's body sent for post-mortem examination.
