6.1 magnitude quake in Mizoram-Myanmar border jolts NE states, no damages reported

Aizawl, Nov 26 (IANS) A massive earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred along the Mizoram-Myanmar border on Friday, which was shook parts of Assam, Manipur, Tripura and the adjoining areas of northeast region, authorities said, adding that there were no reported damages or deaths.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the tremors were also felt in bordering Bangladesh.
The quake occurred at 5.15 a.m. on Friday morning and at a depth of 35 km from the surface.
After the main temblor, there were two after shocks recorded at 5.53 a.m and 8 a.m.
A disaster management official in Aizawl said the epicentre of the quake is 73 km southeast of Thenzawl in Mizoram's Serchhip district along Myanmar.
"No damage reported yet due to the earthquake but the tremor was felt strongly all over Mizoram," the official told IANS over phone.
Disaster management officials in different northeastern states said that there have been no reports of any injury or damage to property so far.
Successive earthquakes in the northeastern states, especially Assam, Mizoram and Manipur, have the authorities worried.
Seismologists consider the northeastern region as the sixth most earthquake-prone belt in the world.
Suggesting Kejriwal to keep himself up to date, the minister said the state government has already executed the Punjab Anti-Red Tape Act of 2021 to promote effective administration of public affairs through simplified and trust-based procedures that shall expedite processes and make governance efficient.
A senior party functionary said that the fact that the BJP has never been in power in Punjab on its own, this time the party is leaving no stone unturned and the central leadership is regularly reviewing the poll preparedness of the state unit
The police had been conducting raids to arrest Ankit Das who is the nephew of former MP, late Akhilesh Das. A notice had been pasted at his residence residential address in Lucknow.
