4.15 Lakhs In 2,000 And 100-Rupee Fake Notes Seized In Punjab, 4 Arrested

    Four persons were arrested with fake currency of face value of Rs. 4.15 lakh in Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 100 denomination from Rampura in Sangrur, police said today.
     
    Acting on a tip-off, police stopped a car near a T-point at Rampura and seized counterfeit currency notes of face value of Rs. 4.15 lakh in denomination of Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 100 yesterday, SSP (Sangrur) Prithpal Singh Thind said.
     
    A printer, scanner and other material used in printing fake currency notes were also seized from them, the SSP said.
     
    The accused have been identified as Harbhajan Das, Jasvir Singh, Jaidev and Bhagwan Das, police said, adding preliminary investigation revealed they printed and supplied fake notes.
     
    They have been booked for forging banknotes, using forged banknotes as genuine and cheating under sections of the Indian Penal Code, police said.
