3 Girls Found Semi-Conscious At Ambala Railway Station

    Three minor girls from Jalandhar who had run away from their homes after getting poor marks in their school examination, were found semi-conscious at Ambala City railway station this morning, police said.
     
    The girls, said to be from Army background, were students of classes IX and X in a school in Jalandhar, they said. "Some passengers informed us that three girls were lying on a bench at platform number 2. We found them in semi-conscious state. They were taken to Civil hospital," a police spokesperson said.
     
    After some time, military police also arrived and the parents of the girls were also informed.
     
    Child Protection Officer Megha Singla, who later talked to the girls, disclosed that the girls had left their homes after getting bad grades in their pre-board examination.
     
    "Their pre-board examination result was declared yesterday and they could not get good marks. On the pretext of going to attend tuition classes they boarded a Delhi-bound train and reached Ambala Cantt railway station at around 12:30 this morning," said Ms Singla.
     
    "They spent the night in waiting room of the station and early in the morning they reached Ambala City by another train," she added.
     
     
    Ms Singla said one of the girls had consumed a small quantity of phenyl while the other had consumed rat killer medicine after which she started to vomit.
     
    "The girls would be handed over to their parents after the hospital discharges them," Ms Singla said.
