Jammu, Feb 6 (IANS) At least 16 passengers were injured after a bus overturned in J&K's Jammu district on Tuesday, officials said.
Officials said that a bus coming from Arnia to Jammu went out of the driver’s control and overturned after skidding off the road.
"The accident took place in Kalyana area. Locals and police evacuated the injured passengers to hospital," officials said.
At least three tribals were shot dead by unidentified militants in Manipur’s Kangpopki district on Tuesday, officials said. Officials in the state capital said a group of unidentified armed extremists stormed villages between the Ireng and Karam areas along the bordering regions of Imphal West and Kangpopki districts and shot dead the three villagers on the spot.
Amidst the ongoing drive against gangsters, Punjab Police’s State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) on Tuesday busted an extortion racket, backed by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, with the arrest of its two key operatives after recovering two .32 bore pistols along with two cartridges from their possession. Moving ahead in the investigations, the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has frozen another 11 banks accounts and five prime properties purportedly owned by absconding scamster couple Ashesh Mehta and his wife Shivangi Lad-Mehta, officials said on Monday. The five residential properties, worth an estimated Rs 16 crore, are in Kandivali, Goregaon, and Santacruz, while 11 bank accounts of the Mehta couple and their companies have also been frozen.
