100 blank-firing pistols found in Delhi car

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 12 Aug, 2014 11:43 AM
Around 100 blank-firing pistols meant to be delivered in areas of the national capital region (NCR) were Tuesday recovered from a car here, police said.

The two occupants of the car were also detained.

"The car was coming towards Bagdola village when a police team spotted it in Dwarka area of south Delhi. On seeing the police team, the occupants tried to flee but were caught," said a police officer.

The pistols were being transported in two jute bags.

Such pistols are often used in races. The firing causes a loud noise, accompanied by smoke, but no cartridge is involved. A license is required for such pistols.

Police said they were questioning the men and trying to ascertain the places and the people for whom the pistols were to be delivered.
