Washington Man Identified As Victim Of Skiing Accident In Rossland, B.C.

The Canadian Press, 29 Jan, 2016 12:07 PM
KELOWNA, B.C. — A man who died after a skiing accident in British Columbia's Kootenay region has been identified as a 49-year-old man from Washington state.

Paul John Omegna of Lake Washington, a suburb of Seattle, was skiing with companions at the Red Mountain resort in Rossland, B.C., last Sunday afternoon.

The B.C. Coroners Service says he became separated from other members of his party and when he did not meet up with them after the ski run, they reported him missing.

The Ski Patrol found him unresponsive in the late afternoon and he was rushed to a hospital in nearby Trail, but could not be resuscitated.

The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate his death.

The service says Omegna's family has been notified and has requested privacy.
