`Exposure to media violence may turn kids aggressive'

Darpan News Desk IANS, 06 May, 2014 12:03 PM
Along with limiting screen time, monitoring the content of what your kids watch on television or what video games they play may be equally important as exposure to media violence may turn them them aggressive, a study indicated.

"Exposure to media violence in all forms increases the risk of real-world aggression," said Dimitri Christakis from Seattle Children's Research Institute in the US.

Both traditional media like violent movies and newer media including first-person shooter games are linked to aggressive behaviour.

Keeping children as much away from violent movies and violent video games as possible may not eliminate acts of aggression completely, nevertheless it was an important strategy to investigate the issue, the researchers noted.
