Car buyers ready to give up sex than haggle over prices: Study

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Jun, 2014 01:24 PM
What has purchasing a car and sex in common? Well, give your wavering thoughts a rest here as some Americans feel that it is better to give up sex than haggle over the price of a car!

According to a latest survey of 1,000 people by California-based car shopping website Edmunds.com, Americans claim purchasing a car or truck is more stressful than getting married or going on a first date.

One in five Americans (21 percent) would rather say goodbye to sex for a month while 44 percent would give up Facebook for a month than going to the dealers and bargaining over a car.

Nearly 29 percent would turn over their smart phone for a weekend if it meant avoiding the bargain hassles.

“Nine out of 10 car shoppers would be more excited to purchase a vehicle if it had a set price they felt good about, rather than having to haggle,” Avi Steinlauf, CEO of Edmunds.com, was quoted as saying in media reports.

It is clear that the average shopper is craving a better way to buy a car, he added.
