  • United States of America elects Joe Biden as its 46th president

The American people have spoken and chosen Democrat Joe Biden as their 46th president. Biden, will address the nation later Saturday, said he was "honored and humbled" by the trust the American people have placed in him. "We are the United States of America and there's nothing we can't do, if we do it together."

History has been made with his running mate, Kamala Harris, as the first woman Vice President of Black and South Asian heritage. She congratulated Biden on his win and spoke proudly that they accomplished what they set out to do.

After four years of a consistent political circus rampant with a lack of integrity in the White House and ridden with bullying Biden said he was running to restore the character of the nation and bring dignity back to the White House. BC Premier John Horgan also gave his best wishes to Biden and Harris.

Prime Minsiter Justin Trudeau congratulated Biden on his win.

Former Democratic candidate Hilary Clinton who lost to Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election also shared a post on Twitter on Biden's win.

Indian Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi also gave his heartiest congratulations to Biden over Twitter.

Trump who has been defeated by Biden tweeted an hour before Biden was declared winner that he had won.

Biden shared a thank you vdieo message via Twitter as well tweeted about a new America that has a vision of unity. He also thanked the African American community for their support.

Trump late evening tweeted that the election was rigged.

270 electoral college votes are needed to win the election and Biden won with a healthy lead of 294 votes while Trump's standing at the time of victory was at 214. Biden will be 78 at the end of the month and will become the oldest president when he is officially in office in January.

Jubliant celebrations are in full swing with supporters spilling onto the streets to celebrate the President-elect's victory. The election took place at an unprecedented time of a global health crisis.
