BC Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson invited the South Asian media for a roundtable and addressed some of the most pressing questions on the minds of Surrey residents.
Dr. Gulzar Cheema Liberal candidate for the riding of Surrey Panorama accompanied him and Andrew Wilkinson opened up with remarks that "We have seen a very divisive and antagonistic campaign from the NDP and they are happy to attack me personally which accomplishes nothing. We are in this pandemic and it is going to do a lot of damage to our economy over the winter".
He stressed the hit the province's economy has taken due to the pandemic and laid out the Liberals party's platform. "There are already the consequences you are seeing of restaurants closing up, retails shops closing, and the best estimate is that one out 4 businesses is going to close in the next 12 months. This is going to be very damaging to Surrey and British Columbia. We can abolish the Provincial Sales Tax for year and move to 3 percent after that. Abolish the Business Income Tax and support our tourism and hospitality and we have talked about taking care of seniors with a $7000 tax credit". added Wilkinson
He then took questions from reporters regarding a new hospital for Surrey, ICBC monopoly, and the Massey Tunnel and highlighted the accomplishments for Surrey that were achieved for it to thrive as a city under the governance of the Liberal party.
@Wilkinson4BC called out BC Premier @jjhorgan for dodging the road mobility pricing question on the radio when DARPAN’s social media host @Ish39 asked him about the Massey Tunnel & @Wilkinson4BC mentioned that they will have to back to the drawing board for the funding. #bcpoli pic.twitter.com/72hYW3aqHE

@Wilkinson4BC & @Drgulzarcheema addressed the need for a #hospital for #Surrey passionately as both are doctors who have transitioned into politics and have spent a lot of time in the health care sector. #bcpoli #bcelections2020 #bcliberals #COVID19BC pic.twitter.com/ew6Kh1XfR5

@Wilkinson4BC and @Drgulzarcheema addressed the media today. Regarding the @ICBC monopoly @Wilkinson4BC the leader of the @bcliberals there needs to be another insurer with many different types of coverage. #Surrey #bcpoli #BCelxn2020 pic.twitter.com/cDBPR6f8YP

@Wilkinson4BC points to the work @bcliberals did during their 16 year reign for #Surrey to help it grow as a city. @Wilkinson4BC takes aim at @BCNDP that they have done nothing for Surrey while in power. #bcpoli #BCelxn2020 #covid19 pic.twitter.com/AmDlZeTNKX
