President Droupadi Murmu on Friday addressed the Global Summit on the theme ‘Spirituality for Clean and Healthy Society’ organised by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya at Mount Abu. The President began her speech by chanting ‘Om Shanti’ and said that spirituality signifies understanding the power within and to be pure in thoughts and actions.
A Kolkata court on Friday remanded Trinamool Congress leader Ashish Pandey to three-day CBI custody in connection with the R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital financial irregularities case. Pandey, also the house staff attached to state-run R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Thursday evening.

Punjab Police have busted an international drug trafficking syndicate that used jackets to smuggle heroin into the state, with the arrest of its two operatives and recovered three half-sleeve jackets stashed with 500 gm heroin in each from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here on Friday. Those arrested have been identified as Sukhdeep Singh, alias Raja, a resident of Faridkot, and Krishan, a resident of Rohtak.
In a sensational crime, Maya Ashok Ankola, mother of ex-cricketer and Bollywood actor Salil Ankola, was found dead with her throat slit at their home in Pune, police said on Friday.

Vancouver Police Chief Const. Adam Palmer says planned and unplanned protests across the city are posing a "significant" risk of disorder, and officers trained specifically for large-scale events will be deployed.
