  • Wedding Story: Pavanjit & Jaime

"We had to Zoom meeting our wedding due to COVID-19 and my friends were showing me the milni live and I got to see Jaime for the first time on our wedding day.”

Q: How did you meet?

Pavan: We met each other during the orientation for our accounting diploma at BCIT. We were lucky enough to have been put into the same class. That is when Jaime took the opportunity to introduce himself by taping me on my shoulder. This was the beginning of our story.

Q: What do you love most about one another?

Pavan: Jaime always makes the best out of the worst situation. Whenever I am around him he always puts a smile on my face. If I am having a bad day, he always seems to find a way to make me laugh or make me feel better. He’s always joking around and lives life to the fullest.

Jaime: Pavan has such a loving and caring nature. She is a very kind-hearted individual with a beautiful smile and laugh. We both have a passion for travelling and I truly love how she always includes my interests and makes our travelling experiences memorable.

Q: Could you share your proposal story?

Pavan: My sister called and invited me to a friend’s surprise engagement party. I was told that they were hoping to introduce friends and family. The day of the event, I did not want to go because there had been a huge snowstorm but Jaime convinced me to head over. To my surprise, it wasn’t a party but instead, he proposed. Jaime had hired videographers and photographers to capture this moment. It was extremely romantic as he had set up candles and flowers with a beautiful dinner.

Q: Describe your wedding day. What was your favourite moment?

Pavan: My favourite moment was when I was in the bride’s room and got a glimpse of Jaime before the wedding. We had to Zoom meeting our wedding due to COVID-19 and my friends were showing me the milni live and I got to see Jaime for the first time on our wedding day. Jaime: My favourite moment was after the last laavan when Pavan sat next to me and we looked at each other and smiled because we realized we were officially married.

Q: Could you tell us about your reception?

Sadly, due to COVID-19, we had to reschedule but we are hoping to have our reception in 2021 for our one year anniversary. We did have a small gathering of friends and family at a local park the next day to celebrate our union!  Q: Can you describe your outfits? Jamie: Due to COVID-19, our outfits were not able to come in time from India. However, we went to Sarpal Cotton Plus in Vancouver and bought material, and got our outfits made. We went for a classic traditional vibe for our wedding day. Pavan even wore some of her mother’s jewellery from her own wedding day. We ended up loving them and would not have changed anything!

Q: Where did you honeymoon?

We have not taken our honeymoon yet, but plan on either going on an African Safari Tour or Greece for a romantic getaway. We share a love for travelling; therefore, we hope 2021 is our year for adventures as a married couple.

Q: What are your goals as a couple?

Our main goal is to always be there for each other through all of the ups and downs in life. To live life to the fullest and make each other happy is something we strive to do every day. We also want to travel the world and complete the bucket list of places we’ve always dreamed of going.

Q: What are the strengths of your marriage?

Since we went to school together, we know what each other’s priorities are. Through the years, we have learned what is at the core of the other individual’s happiness. We have learned sometimes we need our own space and this helps keep our bond strong. We both are aware of each other’s strengths and weaknesses and try to uplift each other the best we can. We believe we balance each other out very well.

Q: If you could provide any advice to other married couples, what would it be?

Try not to sweat the little stuff. Arguments are a part of life; it is how you get through those arguments with respect and love that is the most important. Also, we believe to keep things interesting and fun, it is important to try new activities as often as possible. May that be weekly or monthly, it is important to try to share the other person’s interests to help strengthen your bond. This could be anything from cooking dates, paint nights or even trying a new restaurant.

Sunam’s signature style stems from its usage of spectacular lighting, and Kainth and his team usually eliminate a venue’s white lighting, and replace it with rich hues of fuchsia pink, gold, blue or purple to name a few.  In addition, Kainth customizes each event with his clients and finds that most brides want the event décor to reflect their outfits.
