As I watched Tom Cruise and Paula Patton walk into Anil Kapoor’s mansion in Mission: Impossible – The Ghost Protocol, I thought to myself, “Wow, what a gorgeous event.” Little did I know that a local business had provided the décor elements for the scene. Sunam Events, a full service event and production company, has been in the industry for the last 7 years and specializes in event lighting, décor and furniture.
Recently, Sunny Kainth, owner of Sunam, executed a few high-profile events for The Real Housewives of Vancouver; Style & Strut, which featured Randy Fenoli from the hit show ‘Say Yes to the Dress;’ and the VIP after party for Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour.’ Besides events like this, Sunam has been “creating extraordinary events” for brides and grooms making their wedding visions come true.

“I like when a bride comes in for her to have the least amount of headache, they’re going to be busy enough. I want them to enjoy their big day and not be worried about whether the decorator is going to show up or mess the décor,” says Kainth. “My end goal is to ensure my client is happy and I’ve given everything I can.”

Sunam’s signature style stems from its usage of spectacular lighting, and Kainth and his team usually eliminate a venue’s white lighting, and replace it with rich hues of fuchsia pink, gold, blue or purple to name a few.  In addition, Kainth customizes each event with his clients and finds that most brides want the event décor to reflect their outfits.

“Typically in the past, bridal outfits have been two colours consisting of a primary and secondary colour. This year, I’m starting to see fun, fascinating outfits that are 3 or 4 colours plus, so that’s going to create some exclusive events. I always say interesting fashion leads to interesting events,” says Kainth.

Other big décor trends for weddings are the popular feature wall and crystals adding glitz and glamour. “There is really no end in terms of event production, asides from lighting and décor, you can drape an entire venue, which is over-the-top” adds Kainth.

To achieve your dream or ultimate décor experience, Kainth encourages brides and grooms to think outside the box.
