Purchasing Real Estate Property Abroad in Mexico is Now Easier for Foreign Investors
The Mexican government revised its foreign ownership laws in 1973, which made the real estate process easier for foreign investors who wanted to purchase property in Mexico. Real estate purchases are done through afideicomiso, a property trust, established by a Mexican bank, which serves as a trustee for foreign buyers, who as the beneficiary of the trust hold all ownership rights. The fideicomiso also allows foreign buyers to purchase and own property in Mexico’s restricted zones (close to the coastline or near international borders). All Punta Mita properties come with Title Insurance issued by Stewart Title Guaranty de México and First American.
