Field of Flowers

By Joseph A. Federico, 17 May, 2015
  • Field of Flowers
Warmer air surrounds us, the sun is brighter, and flowers are … well, on dresses. Not only are they taking over our garments, but our jewellery and shoes, too. Lilies, irises, and roses swirl and twirl through the fashion world for the next couple months.

Dive right in, and plant a wondrous garden in your very own closet.

www.Dress911.com – a popular online dress boutique, has flirty items for sale this season. If you are into feathered friends, look to purchase the Monique Dress; it features a peacock pattern, outlined in emerald green and black. Dress to the nines at a spring or early summer garden party, and you’ll be named the guest of honour within seconds of walking through the gates.

Staying with the Asian-inspired theme, a must-have this season is the Kori Funnel Neck Dress, by Motel. The shadowy grayscale flowers lightly dance across your body – just imagine yourself walking on the boardwalk, or across a dance floor looking like a goddess.

Another flowered sensation that is in vogue right now is the simple Floral Dress, by Lucca Couture. Reminiscent of a 1990s television drama wardrobe piece, this dress has a white background, and pops of colour are sprayed to perfection.

Some dresses do not even have to sport flowers on them to stand out; they may have other patterns, and resemble natural garden-esque colours for brighter days ahead. Louis Vuitton has some wonderful native patterned dresses on sale. You know Louis puts out a great and trusted product.

Native American patterns are quite colourful by nature, and so are other patterns from around the globe. Just search the internet from the comfort of your own home, or look to an international newspaper or magazine for some inspiration. Be sure to stick with light colours!

Enough of the dresses. Let’s delve into bathing attire and accessories.

Here is the sensuous part, ladies. June is the month where most women have set a “beach body” goal for themselves. Do you have a fun bathing suit or two picked out yet? If not, we suggest trying on the PilyQ 2015 Madagascar Leather Triangle Bikini. The bottom piece comes in two different options: a full piece, or teeny; you know, for the adventurous chick who likes to snag a fella’s attention while catching summertime rays.

The PilyQ bikini has leather trim, and comes in an animal print. If pink and purple are your favourite colours, then you are in luck. Generally, you should try to stay with warmer, friendlier colours on the beach. Stand out like the sunshine.

Why carry a purse when you can hold your nightlife or road trip essentials in a backpack? The latest carrying case that is a “must” for the season, is a black backpack with butterflies, by Valentino. Angelic and sexy flutterers almost come to life, in blue and pink spotted dots of colour.

If a purse is a necessity, purchase the Chappy Glitz, by 442 McAdam. It’s refined, sleek, and comes in a vintage pink and green mixture. Golden emblems and chains really make the item stand out. This purse is perfect for when you are wearing an outfit that is light and airy, and a solid colour. Too many patterns and colours makes for a messy look, and you do not want to get a headache. Stick to one pattern per outfit.

We have the carrying apparatus down pat, so let us move to jewellery. Remember those chunky cocktail rings that were prominent about five years ago? Break them out again.

Floral cocktail rings are all the rage for spring and summer months this year. Some of our favourites are rings by Alexander McQueen (the Mixed Flower Ring), Michael Kanners (the Amethyst Flower Ring), and Dannijo (the April Crystal Flower Cocktail Ring). Think thick, bright, and heavy in the ring department.

Do not forget about footwear. Open toed high heels with floral patterns go nicely with a solid-coloured maxi dress. How about rose-coloured flats with one of the suggested dresses above? Footwear is just as essential as what colour rouge goes on your pretty face, or what you are going to have for dinner.

As we said numerous times throughout this colourful tutorial, the upcoming season is about having fun and being free. Let the sun shine through your soul, and exude that feeling through your warmer wardrobe.

What will you be wearing this summer? Trade some old clothes for a few of the suggestions we have made here, and see how it fares. We bet you will look and feel like a million bucks…or at the very least, a more warmer, happier you, as we’ve finally left the winter months behind.
