She points out that the best part about financial reporting is that it’s not all about bad news. “A lot of news reporting focuses on what’s going wrong in the world. But in business you get to look at triumphs and innovation.” Kanwar balances the good and the bad by speaking with people who literally had nothing but an idea and weaved that into a billion dollar business.
Her second book, The Golden Son, was an instant #1 bestseller in Canada, and is being published in the U.S. and around the world throughout 2016. “It still surprises me,” says Toronto-born Gowda, who never really considered writing as a career.
Brar’s hotel career started in Alberta with progressive positions at the Chateau Airport in Calgary, The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and recently at Vancouver’s The Fairmont Waterfront as general manager.
