Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Makes: 4 Parathas

A desi delight with a Western touch. The Pizza Paratha is a cheesy paratha that recreates the magic of pizzas in a popular Indian format. The paratha, made with a stuffing of veggies, cheese and common pizza seasonings, has a very inviting aroma and amazing taste.

Ingredients

For the dough:

• ½ cup plain flour (maida)

• ½ cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)

• Salt to taste

For the topping:

• ¾ cup finely chopped capsicum

• ½ cup grated processed cheese

• 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

• 1½ tsp dry red chilli flakes

• 1½ tsp dried oregano

• 1 tbsp finely chopped black olives

• Salt to taste

Preparation

• Combine all the ingredients for the dough in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Keep aside.

• Combine all the ingredients for the stuffing together and divide the stuffing into four equal portions.

• Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll a portion of the dough into a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.

• Place a portion of stuffing in the centre of the circle. Bring together all the sides in the centre and seal tightly. Roll again into a circle of 150 mm. (6”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.

• Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook the paratha using one teaspoon of butter until golden brown spots appear on both the sides.

• Cut the paratha into four equal portions. Repeat the steps to make more parathas.

Serve immediately.
