Chive Biscuits

By Chef Jehangir Mehta, 21 Jan, 2016

The best part of baking biscuits is the smell that arises from the oven. Also, this is a great, quick alternative to making bread.

    Ingredients:

    3 ½ cups bread flour

    ¼ cup sugar

    1 teaspoon salt

½ pound (2 sticks) butter, unsalted butter at room temperature

    1/3 cup heavy cream

    4 medium eggs

    ½ cup chopped chives

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 325º F.

Add the flour, sugar, salt and butter to a standing mixer and run with a paddle attachment on medium-high speed. When ingredients are well mixed, add the cream, eggs, chives and baking powder. Let the mixer run for about 15 more seconds, until the mixture has a dough-like consistency.

Roll out the dough to about one inch thick, and then cut it into one inch cubes.

Place the cubes on a non-stick baking sheet, and bake until light golden for about seven minutes.

Serve warm or at room temperature
