  • A Beacon of Multicultural Expertise at Desjardins: Zarir Dadinatha

Zarir Dadinatha, Regional Sales Director at Desjardins is a testament to the power of diversity and a dedicated work ethic in the insurance and financial sector. With a remarkable ability to communicate in six languages, including Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi, Dadinatha stands out as a leader who understands the diverse needs of the community he serves.

Dadinatha’s journey into the financial industry began in 1998 when he moved to Canada after working as a Sales Manager in Oman. Despite lacking prior experience in finance, Dadinatha's enthusiasm for the industry led him to a job fair that marked the beginning of a fulfilling career. Over his 24-year tenure in insurance, Dadinatha transitioned from general and commercial insurance to life and mutual funds, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to personal growth.

Given his rich tenure, Dadinatha emphasizes the significance of insurance as an investment rather than an expense. Drawing from his own experiences, he highlights the critical role insurance plays in securing one's financial future, especially during unforeseen circumstances such as critical illnesses.

Being a successful multilingual professional, Dadinatha recognizes the value of cultural understanding in the financial industry. He acknowledges that not many people in his line of work speak multiple languages, making his proficiency a unique asset. His dedication to supporting advisors is evident in his approach to management — he treats them with empathy, understanding the challenges they face, and finds joy in their success. “My happiness comes from advisors being successful.”, shares the passionate leader.

In his role as Regional Sales Director at Desjardins, Dadinatha's responsibilities include training a team of highly skilled financial professionals, providing product knowledge, and enhancing Desjardins's market share. He takes pride in Desjardins's distinctive value as the third-largest insurance company in Canada by assets and emphasizes its cooperative model, rooted in supporting members, clients, and communities. With support from advisors in various life and health insurance agencies and with a team of highly trained professionals, within the Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network (DFSIN), led by Managing Director, Perminder Chohan, Desjardins is a reputed name in the community.

Over the years, Dadinatha has skillfully continued to navigate challenges arising from misconceptions about insurance by building trust and leveraging his multilingual abilities to communicate effectively. The COVID-19 pandemic brought unforeseen challenges, prompting a shift towards digitalization in the insurance landscape. Dadinatha and his colleagues adapted swiftly, embracing technology to continue providing quality service. He elaborates, “As financial advisors, we work with clients to not just consider the short-term but focus on the long-term.” The experienced professional stresses the importance of trust and clarity in building successful client-advisor relationships.

As Desjardins maintains its customer-centric approach, Dadinatha envisions growth opportunities in Western Canada by addressing evolving customer needs. With a focus on transparency, education, and adapting to industry changes, Zarir Dadinatha continues to play a pivotal role in Desjardins' success, showcasing the company as a leader in the insurance and financial sector.
