Q&A with Jay Sidhu: Sales Executive at Porsche Centre Langley

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 28 May, 2024
  • Q&A with Jay Sidhu: Sales Executive at Porsche Centre Langley

Q1. How long have you been associated with Porsche and the automotive industry?

I have 22 years of experience in the Automotive Industry, representing brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ferrari, and Porsche. I have been associated with Porsche for the past five years.

Q2. How did Porsche's debut electric vehicle, Taycan, resonate with consumers and enthusiasts?

Porsche is relatively new to the EV Market. We launched Porsche Taycan in 2020, and it was immediately well-received by consumers. This was not your stereotypical dull-looking and boring-to-drive EV. Enthusiasts loved the athletic and futuristic design; to complement that, it drove like a Porsche, a true sports car.

Q3. Has the BC government's implementation of a luxury tax impacted the demand for high-end cars?

Porsche is a niche brand that is considered a want versus a need.

Consumers don't need one, but they aspire to own one. When the BC government implemented the luxury tax, it initially slowed the market for 6/9 months. However, consumers got used to it, just like the cost of living in Vancouver.

Q4. What specific directives has Porsche outlined regarding its involvement in the electric vehicle market?

Porsche and many other automakers are intensifying their investment in EV technology in response to global demand and governmental regulations to reduce emissions. As part of its "Strategy 2030," Porsche aims to achieve CO-neutral operations across its entire value chain by 2030, emphasizing sustainability as a core priority. The company voluntarily undergoes annual evaluations by ISS ESG, a sustainability rating agency, to assess its environmental, social, and corporate governance efforts. Porsche is committed to being recognized as a leader in sustainability within the automotive industry.

Q5. What key factors should individuals consider when purchasing a car, and can you highlight Porsche's most popular vehicle?

When purchasing a car, clients consider various factors such as vehicle type—SUV, sedan, or EV—and cost, based on their budget. The purchase method, whether leasing, financing, or cash, also plays a crucial role. Many professionals and self-employed individuals prefer leasing or financing for potential tax benefits and categorizing the vehicle as a business expense. The SUV dominates the automotive market in North America, and Porsche is no exception. Our bestsellers are the mid-sized Porsche Cayenne and the compact Porsche Macan, which offer practicality and year-round drivability while maintaining Porsche's iconic sporting characteristics.
