  • Beat the Heat: BC’s Top Summer Spots
There’s nothing like a refreshing swim on a hot summer’s day. Here’s a quick guide to help you figure out where to go.

Cultus Lake Waterpark
Looking for some thrills and good old family fun? Cultus Lake Water Park is the place for you. Whether you take a relaxing float down Adventure River, descend down a 72 feet vertical drop slide or make a splash at the interactive Pirate’s Cove, you’ll be certain to have a blast. Bonus: all their pools are nice and toasty. Pack yourself a picnic lunch and make some family memories!

Alice Lake
It may be an hour away from Vancouver, but the Alice Lake Provincial Park in Squamish is definitely worth the drive. Think picturesque mountains, lush forests and its crowning glory: four fresh water lakes to swim in. Alice Lake is the largest of the four and a great spot to spend a memorable summer’s day at. Swim, take a dip or simply laze around on the shore. It’s a popular summer destination for many, so be sure to get there on time to claim a good spot!

Centennial Beach

If you’re not a fan of chilly water, Centennial Beach is the place for you. Besides its vast expanse of sandy beach, it also boasts shallow waters, which are said to be warmer than the other beaches in Vancouver. Located in Tsawwassen, Delta, Centennial Beach is also good for more than a nice swim or splash, you can also enjoy water sports, go beachcombing in its low tide pools or even try some birdwatching.

30 Foot Pool
Looking for a more unusual spot? If you don’t mind cold water, give the 30 Foot Pool a try. Located in Lynn Canyon Valley, you are looking at a long climb up wooden stairs before you can access this swimming hole. You’ll be glad you did, however, when you catch a glimpse of some of the amazing views of the area. This natural swimming pool is also an ideal place to enjoy a picnic lunch after a swim in those pristine waters.

Parksville Qualicum Beach

Located on Vancouver Island, Qualicum Beach is a charming seaside town with one of the best beaches around. Golden sands, clear waters and picturesque views ‒ this slice of paradise is ideal for a weekend getaway. If you’re travelling with children, they’ll adore Parksville Beach, a sandy beach which is full of swings, slides and water cannons. Besides lazing
around on the beachfront, you can also go birdwatching or explore some of their gorgeous parks.

Watermania

Want to feel the waves, but don’t quite fancy making a trip to the beach? Watermania in Richmond is your best bet. This enormous aquatic center boasts a large, exciting wave pool. That’s not all they have. Serious swimmers can enjoy a state of the art competition pool and the 5-metre dive tower. Kids are sure to love the water play structure, complete with water slides. Plus, if you get tired of swimming, you can check out some of their other facilities.

White Pine Beach

Located within Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody, White Pine Beach is popular with the younger crowd and families with children. Stretch out on the sandy beach or take a dip in the calm, warm waters of Sasamat Lake. Feeling restless? Check out one of their numerous walking trails. If you’re planning a visit on the weekends, be sure to get there early to secure a parking spot.

Lost Lake

Like you’d expect from its name, it’s a bit of a walk to reach this emerald lake. Located in Lost Lake Park near Whistler village, this small lake is popular for its sandy beach and offers some great hiking trails nearby. You can also swim up to a floating platform in the middle of the lake. Make a day of it and enjoy a BBQ or picnic lunch after all that exertion!
