Bride: Sukhmani Sadana
City of Residence: Vancouver, British Columbia

Q1: How did you two meet, and what was your first impression of each other?

Sukhmani and I first crossed paths in Mumbai, where the magic of cinema meets real life. She’s an incredibly talented writer and actor, and I was visiting for my brother's reception. Our mutual friend was hosting an event, and as fate would have it, we both ended up there. It felt like a scene from a movie—two strangers slowly walking towards each other, bathed in the soft glow of the spotlight, the world around us fading into the background. When we finally met, it was as if the universe had been waiting for that very moment. We talked, we laughed, and in that instant, we both knew something special had begun. It was a connection that sparked like a firecracker, bright and undeniable.

Q2: Can you share the story of your proposal/engagement? Was it a grand surprise or a quiet, intimate moment?

Our proposal was intimate, just the two of us, far from the everyday hustle. We had flown to a charming city in the U.S., and on one perfect evening, we found ourselves on a rooftop with a stunning view and fireworks in the distance. As we enjoyed the quiet magic of that night, I went down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of our lives together. It was simple, sweet, and perfectly us.

Q3: Describe your wedding day for us. Did you have a favorite part of the wedding?

Our wedding day was truly special. We married in Amritsar, India, Sukhmani’s hometown, with the Golden Temple as our backdrop. The day was planned, yet it felt spontaneous and full of joy. The ceremony was filled with love and devotion, making it a heartfelt experience. Afterward, we drove through the city in a vintage Rolls-Royce, with locals turning to look and celebrating with us. Our reception in a beautiful garden, surrounded by family and friends, was a memorable end to a magical day.

Q4: Tell us more about your reception.

We were fortunate to have two memorable receptions. Right after our wedding in Amritsar, the first was a beautiful celebration with our loved ones. The second reception in Vancouver was grand and vibrant, with an atmosphere that felt like something from a classic film. Surrounded by family and friends, we danced, laughed, and created lasting memories.

Q5: How did you choose your wedding attire for the both of you? Were there any special considerations or sentimental elements?

We aimed for our wedding attire to reflect elegance and regality. Sukhmani wore a traditional red by Rimple & Harpreet for the wedding in India, which is deeply meaningful, and I selected an outfit that complemented hers perfectly. She chose a white lehenga by Seema Gujral for our reception in Vancouver. Together, we felt like we were stepping into a timeless love story.

Q6: Were any traditions or customs particularly important to include in your wedding?

Traditions are key in a Punjabi Indian wedding. We embraced every aspect of our culture, from the Haldi and Mehndi ceremonies to the Sangeet and the wedding day rituals. Each tradition added joy and warmth to our celebration, making the experience even more special.

Q7: Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

Sukhmani jokes that she might have considered changing the groom—but only for a moment! In all seriousness, we wouldn’t change a thing. The entire experience was perfect in its own way.

Q8: How does it feel to be married, and what are you most looking forward to in this new chapter together?

Being married feels great, and we’re excited about this new chapter. We look forward to enjoying life, making memories, and continuing our journey together. Each day is a new adventure, and we’re ready to embrace it.

Q9: If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Our advice is to make your wedding day about you. Enjoy every moment, and don’t stress about others’ expectations. We had a wonderful time with our closest loved ones, honoring our traditions while keeping it intimate. It’s your special day—cherish it and make it yours.
