Wedding Story: Shyam & Kirti

  • Wedding Story: Shyam & Kirti

City of Residence: Vancouver

 Q: How did you meet?

A: We first realized that each other existed when the groom had a business meeting with the bride's mom. From there, we ended up bumping into each other at a couple of social events, and the second we started talking, we couldn't stop!

Q: What do you love the most about one another?

A:

Shyam: Her infectious smile and laugh are the first things that come to mind. For me, she lights up every room she's in with her incredible energy! She's very social, and I am more of an introvert, so she helps me get out of my shell!

Kirti: What I love most about Shyam is that he has this beautiful heart filled with so much love and respect for anyone he holds dear to him! He always knows how to make me laugh, accepts me for who I am, and helps me grow and become even better! I feel safe and comforted knowing I have him around!

Q: Could you share your proposal story?

A: Shyam had booked an impromptu trip for us to Mexico, and a couple of days into the trip, he mentioned that we would go for a fancy dinner at the resort! Before the dinner, he suggested that we go to the beach first since it was something we both wanted to do since we arrived! While on the beach, a photographer approached us and asked if we wanted to do a free photoshoot. I looked at Shyam with excitement, and he reluctantly said yes. Little did I know that the photoshoot was set up for us to capture our big moment!

The photographer began; he told me to look at the ocean as Shyam got ready and kneeled behind me! The photographer then asked me to turn around, and I was shocked and overwhelmed with so much happiness that I started to cry! He wouldn't want me to say this, but he could not speak as he was down on one knee and was too emotional! This day will forever be etched in my mind! I obviously said yes!

Q: Describe your wedding day and your favourite moment.

A:

Shyam: When Kirti arrived in the doli carried by her brothers, it was the most royal entrance, and she looked nothing short of a princess! Seeing her walking towards me made me feel like all the sacrifices and stress of wedding planning were worth it!

Kirti: My favourite moment was when I was walking down the aisle. I was first overwhelmed with emotion and could not look up, but when I finally did and saw Shyam's face, I could clearly see my future filled with so much love! I wanted to be that coy-looking bride, but I couldn't help but smile!

Q: Could you tell us about your reception?

A: it was a magical night spent with the people we love the most, celebrating something we have been dreaming about for a very long time! It was the perfect ending to an exceptional week of celebrating our love! We didn't even have a chance to leave the dance floor all night as everyone couldn't stop dancing! It was a dream come true between the wedding planners, the decor team, the hall, Amavi Films presenting our Next Day Edit, iNav presenting such incredible wedding photos for our guests, and our family and friends, making it the most memorable night!

Q: How was your experience with the photography team? Would you recommend it to others?

A: 1000% would recommend this phenomenal team to others! Nav, Gurleen and their team were amazing right from the pre-wedding shoot, making us feel comfortable! All through the wedding ceremonies and reception, we felt like we were taken care of and absolutely loved the photos!

Q: Can you describe your outfits?

A: We both had a vision of what we were looking for and through Sunny Bridals, we landed on Seema Gujral's designs! They were both Elegant and Modern and hit every note we were looking for!

Q: Where did you go for your honeymoon?

A: Havent had a chance to take so much time off work - we are postponing our honeymoon until next year!

Q: What are your goals as a couple?

A: To help each other keep growing as a couple and as individuals, never stop having fun with each other, and not to take life too seriously; to embrace every moment!

Q: What are your favourite quotes?

A:

Shyam: "I'd rather be in the mountains thinking about God than at the temple thinking about mountains."

Kirti: "If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done."

Q: What are the strengths of your marriage?

A: We are always friends first and keep each other on our toes!

Q: If you could give any advice to other married couples, what would it be?

A:  Make sure you both are strong as individuals and as a couple. There is no right way to do marriage.

Wedding Story - Priscilla & Roy
Roy and I had plans to watch a movie on the day it happened but plans changed when I was handed a note from my brother. The note stated to follow steps and that’s when a private escalade picked me up from my house. I was taken to the Olympic cauldron (a symbol of when we met) then I was escorted to the Vancouver seaplane terminal where Roy had proposed. We boarded a private seaplane to Horseshoe Bay to the boathouse where we had our first Valentine's day date.
