Q1: How did you two meet, and what was your first impression of each other?

We met in 2018 at BCIT in Vancouver while taking finance courses. JC had just moved from Toronto to pursue his business degree. Our connection started during study sessions and coffee breaks, where we discovered our shared interests and chemistry. Over time, we went from classmates to friends and, eventually, partners for life. Looking back, we’re so grateful that our paths crossed in that busy classroom, setting the stage for our beautiful journey together.

Q2: Can you share the story of your proposal/engagement? Was it a grand surprise or a quiet, intimate moment?

JC proposed to me in Pasadena, LA, during a special trip we had planned. We decided to do a photo shoot, and little did I know what was coming. As we were walking around, JC seemed a bit nervous, but I didn’t think much of it. Then, we stopped at a beautiful spot, and suddenly, he got down on one knee. I was utterly taken by surprise! He asked me to marry him, and I was overwhelmed with joy and surprise. It felt surreal as I looked at the ring and then into his eyes, realizing how much thought and effort he had put into this moment.

Q3: Describe your wedding day for us. Did you have a favorite part of the wedding?

Jaskaran: Our wedding day was nothing short of magical. We chose to have a Sikh outdoor ceremony at a beautiful farm, and every detail came together perfectly. The weather was simply perfect—bathed in sunshine and adorned with a gentle breeze, it provided a breathtaking backdrop for our special day. The vibrant colors and intricate details reflected our culture and love, making everything feel so personal. From the floral arrangements to the little details, every element was thoughtfully designed and added to the overall atmosphere of joy and celebration.

Muskan: My favorite part of the day was the Laavan. As we circled the Guru Granth Sahib, I felt an overwhelming connection to JC and our families. The chants filled the air with love and spirituality, making the moment even more meaningful. It was a beautiful representation of our commitment to each other and our shared journey ahead.

Q4: Tell us more about your reception.

Two weeks after our wedding day, we celebrated our reception in Toronto, Ontario. Since JC was born and raised there, hosting our celebration in his hometown felt special. We wanted to create a memorable experience for our family and friends, and Toronto was the perfect place to do just that. One of our favorite parts of the reception was the speeches. Hearing heartfelt words from our loved ones made me realize how much support we have as we begin this new chapter together. It was a mix of laughter and happy tears, and it truly brought everyone closer.

Q5: How did you choose your wedding attire?

I wanted to embody the beauty of a traditional red bride, so I chose a stunning outfit by Rimple and Harpreet Narula. When I finally tried on my chosen outfit, I knew it was the one. The rich red fabric, adorned with beautiful embroidery, was a perfect blend of tradition and style, and I could already imagine how stunning it would look on my wedding day. To make the experience even more meaningful, I visited India with my parents for wedding shopping. It was a wonderful opportunity to immerse myself in the culture and traditions that are so important to us.

Q6: Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

Looking back at our wedding, one thing I would do differently is to stress less and focus on enjoying the moment more. Amid the planning and preparations, I found myself overwhelmed by the details, which sometimes took away from the joy of the occasion. By prioritizing enjoyment over perfection, you have a better chance of creating lifetime memories!

Q7: How does it feel to be married, and what are you most looking forward to in this new chapter together?

Being married feels incredibly fulfilling and joyful. A deep sense of connection and partnership comes with sharing your life with someone you love. It’s comforting to know that you have a teammate with whom you can navigate the ups and downs of life. Every day feels like an adventure as we create new memories together. There are also moments of growth and learning as we adapt to each other’s habits and preferences. But through it all, the love and commitment we share make every challenge worthwhile.

Q8: If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Focus on what truly matters to you both. It’s easy to get caught up in the details and opinions of others, but remember that this day is a celebration of your love and commitment. Communicate openly with each other about your vision, priorities, and any traditions important to you. Choose elements that reflect your personality and relationship. Lastly, don’t forget to enjoy the process! Planning a wedding can be stressful, but take moments to savor the experience together. After all, the love you share makes the day special, not just the celebration itself.

Don’t take life so seriously and enjoy the little stuff. Don’t stay mad, everyone loses it from from to time. No point stressing the small stuff.

Start early. When we first started planning, about a year and a half ago, we were noticing that a lot of our vendors had “holds” so it was important that we book right away. Spend money on the right things.
