Guru Nanak's Free Kitchen (GNFK), a Sikh organization based in the Lower Mainland  has kicked off its fundraising campaign so that it can secure a permament facilty in the Downtown EastSide.

Their goal is to raise $2 million for a brick-and-mortar location so that the organization can serve the needy.

The campaign has reached a goal of $80,000.

The new space will be a fully furnished commercial kitchen with a serving area, along with a storage facility as well as a distribution area.

The organization's goal with its prospect space isn't just to feed the poor by distributing free meals but also to create a sacred space for meditation, chanting, and music.

The design also makes space for meeting rooms so that community support services are offered.

GNFK's purpose is to welcome everyone no matter what culture or race.

A business plan and a financial plan for the facility are in the works.

For the past 15 years, the organization has lived up to its motto to “Love All Feed All” by providing 1 million free meals to the needy.
