Our beautiful province of British Columbia boasts immense natural splendour encompassing alpine forests, coastal mountains, freshwater lakes, and an extensive network of hiking trails. One would miss out if they didn't take advantage of scenic beaches, lush green parks, or great hikes. As the temperature rises, a resounding invitation beckons outdoor enthusiasts to embark on a journey of exploration through some of the region's most breathtaking, though lesser-known, locations in and around Vancouver this summer.

Alice Lake Provincial Park, nestled in Squamish, is an essential destination for outings with loved ones. This beautiful park not only boasts sandy beaches but also offers an abundance of walking trails and top-tier camping facilities. Additionally, visitors can revel in the charm of a small lake, complete with an accessible walking trail and awe-inspiring scenic vistas.

The park boasts an array of picnic tables and inviting grassy patches and is the idyllic setting for two neighbouring sandy beaches. The larger beach features a spacious grassy expanse while in close proximity to the smaller beach and main parking lot, a small children's play area, and a dedicated mountain bike track cater to the younger visitors.

Thrill-seekers who relish hiking and biking will be spoilt for choice, as Alice Lake offers numerous trails to explore and conquer. The park welcomes visitors from March to October, providing ample time to savour its natural wonders. For those interested in camping, it is strongly advised to secure a reservation in advance, ensuring a seamless and gratifying experience amidst the park's serene surroundings.

Barnet Marine Park in Burnaby-About 40 mins from Surrey/Delta and about 30 mins from Vancouver

Barnet Marine Park offers a diverse shoreline featuring both rocky and sandy beaches. While the sandy beach graces the park's western side, the eastern side houses the most popular beach, conveniently located closer to the parking lots. This beach encompasses a harmonious blend of grassy and sandy areas, providing ample space for relaxation and enjoyment.

Tracing the water's edge is Drummond's Walk, a level trail that spans the entire length of the park. If you're in the mood for a stroll, this trail presents an excellent opportunity to exercise while revelling in the park's natural beauty.

One of the remarkable aspects of Barnet Marine Park is its privileged waterfront location, granting visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the breathtaking scenery. Adding to its unique charm, remnants of old marine structures still stand, captivating reminders of the park's storied past.
