Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue, formally known as Anna Wintour (nicknamed “Nuclear Wintour”) is rumored to be next in line for the next US Ambassador position in the UK or France. What?
Wintour had moved to the US for her love of fashion. She became Editor-in-Chief of Vogue and has remarkably held onto the position since 1988. Wintour is known for her bob cut and sunglasses. She is praised for her eye in picking the next fashion trend and the support she has provided to many fresh designers.
Although the White House has not confirmed any such rumors, Ambassador Louis Susman, the current US Ambassador has openly announced that he is planning to step down. With only a few months left until the next US ambassador is chosen, the US Embassy in London stated “they would not speculate on President Obama’s eventual choice for a successor to Ambassador Louis Susman.”
Wintour’s shocking move into politics has left many in the fashion world in awe. Critics have questioned Wintour’s qualifications to handle this position; there are a few who beg to differ. Jess Cartner-Morley, The Guardian’s fashion editor, is on full support mode for Wintour’s new venture.
In her opinion, Wintour would fit the role like a glove! “Wintour is generally acknowledged as whip-smart and extremely hard-working. She is enormously charismatic, a born networker and a formidable fundraiser.” During the elections, Wintour had organized several events for the democratic campaign. She is also a vigilant supporter of President Barack Obama.
Whatever the case, announcing the new US ambassador is right around the corner.
