The Bounty of Fall Fashion

  • The Bounty of Fall Fashion
This fall, turn heads in the latest shades, accessories and styles

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? That’s alright Shakespeare, maybe next year! With summer coming to an end, we must bid adieu to summer dresses, short shorts, tank tops and wedges, but nothing ever ends on a sad note! It is now the beginning of a new season, which means there is light at the end of the tunnel! Let’s look to the runway for some tips to change your wardrobe, as the leaves change colour this fall.

Speaking of colour–it seems not everything is black and white anymore – this fall we have entered a grey area. Shades of charcoal and slate have replaced black as the new neutral, which is a nice change from solid blacks.

This median adds drama where needed and a touch of cool where necessary. The runway was filled with accents of ‘50 shades of grey.’ A few personal favourites – Reed Krakoff’s long grey coat over an all black ensemble and Proenza Schouler pairs her white pants with a cool, light grey coat giving it an angelic glow. The versatility of the grey’s will be a perfect addition to your wardrobe this fall – whether you are looking for a highlight or ready to make a statement. Simple yet elegant!

Here is your fall trend report to help make your every day wardrobe. The modern chic is all about a sexy sophistication. Pair an oversized coat, like a cape coat with skinny pants or sheer pantyhose with an extra feminine, figure hugging blouse or dress. This is a definite head turner. The ‘glam girl’ is all about fun and is never too shy to make a statement!

Oversized necklaces, beaded bracelets, vintage earrings and brooches are all in this gal’s bag of tricks. Individualism and creativity are the two cornerstones of the fall jewelry line; from beautiful pearls to fur and chains – you name it and fall has it! Vintage is your blast from the past. Lacey elegance, vintage life-inspired brocade, trimmings of crystal and gold finishes is everything but a thing of the past.

More to watch out for this season is patterned sweaters, flats paired with satchels, button-front shirts, fashion sweatshirts, short boots and as always, fall is incomplete without a statement jacket.

Indian fashion has caught the attention of fashionistas around the globe and designers are making headlines for their eye-catching fall fashion sense. The bustling city of Delhi hosted India Bridal Fashion Week 2013, and the runways showcased traditional to trendy ideas for our brides-to-be – there is always something in store for everyone. Bridal fashion has also adapted to change in season.

The traditional sari has received yet another makeover – pairing your sari with a long knee-length jacket is making it more winter friendly! Bored with the same ol’? Dazzle up your sari with a bejeweled belt. It’s simple, easy and always flattering – it’s the kamar bandh of the 21st century with a twist!

Dhoti pants continue to survive fashion trends, and looks like they might be here to stay, which is fine by me because they are a much needed change from the boring ol’ salwar. A chunni draped over a kurta top paired with dhoti pants – you can be assured no one would be wearing what you wore for your wedding functions!

Last, but most definitely not the least – the classic red will always be the bridal colour for all seasons. For a while, we had moved away from traditional red as brides began to experiment with various colours in the colour palette, but nothing beats the classic. Red was highlighted in anarkali’s, lenghas and suits as the colour of perfection for the blushing bride.

With summer closing to an end, fall is just around the corner. Roll up your sleeves and get ready!
