Keep it modern, classy: Designers tell teachers

  • Keep it modern, classy: Designers tell teachers
Teachers can experiment with colours and fabrics, but they should keep their look classy and stylish, say designers.

Rajat K. Tangri, who has designed costumes for films including "Mary Kom" and "Shootout at Wadala", says that one can experiment with muted colour blocking.

"Go for brighter contrast for minute details. One can try light yet bright shades, which are happier. Avoid dull and boring shades. Comfort is the key. Experiment with textile and traditional weaves. Keep it modern and classy, always," Tangri told IANS.

Men can try cufflinks to jazz up the regular formal shirt.

"A pop of colours and off-beat quirky details can add a lot of fun to regular formal dressing. Men can add fun cufflings to pep up the regular formal shirt. Invest in pastel polo tees and golf t-shirts and team it up with neutral tan trousers," Aniket Satam told IANS.

In terms of accessories, Tangri says give old-fashioned briefcases a miss and go for funky backpack with cool graphics and details. A smart pair of geek glasses with cardigan-vest can help create a retro charm.

Statement jewellery should be idea for women who can also experiment with layering by opting formal jackets and stoles for winter classes. Long skirts with nice tucked in shirt will also add fun to the costume.

"Female teachers can move away from saris and can dress in cotton long skirts. Full length crinkled cotton skirts teamed up with a nice tucked in shirt makes a perfect attire," Reynu Taandon

She added that they can wear colours like green and fuchsia and accessorise it with colorful bangles, but do make sure that the bangles don’t distract and help keep the look subtle yet playful.

Those who are a die hard fan of ethnic wardrobe, Tandon feels they should team up white kurta with white Patiala and accessorise it with red bindi to give that traditional look.

Satam feels that women can stick to formal dressing, but they can "jazz it with accessories like animal shape earrings, stack of wooden bangles or simply a tribal shaped wooden comb for rustic charm."

“A simple strand of pearls and a single line of white solitaire are a must have for women. They should wear a smart leather strap watch and platform heels," he added.

However while choosing a perfect wardrobe, teachers shold keep in mind few important guidelines.
