The Heels are Meant for Walking

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 08 Feb, 2014 05:17 AM
  • The Heels are Meant for Walking
“Shoes are like men, the cuter they are, the harder they are to resist” – this was written on a coffee mug that my cousin gave to me as a gift for two reasons: 1 – I cannot function without my daily cup of coffee and 2 – I am a shoe addict. I live, eat and breathe shoes (okay, maybe not eat shoes but you get what I’m saying). Shoes make a bold statement and they say a lot about your personality and who you are. Girls – listen to what your shoes say about you.

Christian Louboutin is not an unknown name to the world of shoes. Louboutin has given the colour red a whole new meaning – it’s dangerously sexy and outrageously high – these shoes are made for women who dress to impress! Louboutin’s 2012 summer collection has been flirting its way down the catwalk. The 2012 collection has a little something in store for all the “single and ready to mingle” gals from rock n’ roll and glittery glam to a retro chic.

A Louboutin girl is versatile like the signature Louboutin red but she also exudes elegance with a splash of excitement! The daffodil collection is girly, fun and very LA! Bright baby blues, beautiful princess pinks and funky green lime, a much needed ray of sunshine in this unusually cool, damp summer! This collection is for the woman who is definitely trendy and loves her colour (no gloomy greys for this fashionista, unless of course it’s in). Christian Louboutin’s line never falls short of innovation or to impress.

2012 welcomes bold metallic and pointed spikes which can make any ordinary outfit extraordinary – definite rock n’ roll reincarnation. This edgy design is not meant for everyone, as this Louboutin girl has a carefree attitude and loves to party hard! Louboutin’s can inspire an outfit whether it’s a Kim K body hugging dress or lounging in shorts and a tee with the crew. The shoes are genuine patent leather, smooth suede and edgy spikes. Christian Louboutin – let the red do the talking!

Adam and Eve welcome you to the 21st century! Manolo Blahnik’s summer 2012 collection definitely came to play hard! Manolo’s indulge within the trend of 2012: bright colours, florals and colour blocking with their own twist. The collection is fun and inspiring, and the unusual heels are designed to accent the colours quite well.

Speaking of heels, Manolo’s keep the length of their heel quite conservative but the design is definitely out of this world. A Manolo girl likes to keep it professional with pointy toe shoes or sexy stilettos, but she is no stranger to fun- brilliant colours, strappy sandals and beaded heels – need I say more? Above all, a Manolo girl prefers to be unique and is not inclined to follow the grain 100 per cent. For the summer 2012 collection, keep your outfit simple because your Manolo’s scream the attention you deserve.

Summer is incomplete without wedges – even a summer like ours deserves its wedges! Michael Kors displays his fun line of wedges for the summer to help you get ready for the beach and the summer fiesta. From chunky clogs to braided straps, Kors has it all! The colour scheme for the 2012 collection is a bit subdued and sombre for the 2012 trend but the wedges add the right feminine touch.

Michael Kors is affordable and comfortable, and you can’t go wrong with MK. A Kors girl is fun and flirty but not high maintenance. She is not at all concerned with demanding attention when she walks into the room with her sleek wedges, but always catches the right attention (maybe Mr. Right). An excellent pair of wedges can elongate your legs, giving them that extra height you’ve always wanted. MK is a summer trademark!

You can find the 2012 summer collections around the Lower Mainland, including the Michael Kors locations in Metropolis At Metrotown and Oakridge Centre. In addition, Holt Renfrew is home to high-end, designer shoes and my favourites this summer also include Gucci’s ankle-strap sandal and the Yves Saint Laurent tribute sandal in red patent. For affordability, try Aldo at any of their locations but remember to stick with the summer rules: bright colours, chunky/unique heels and an abundance of floral, glittery glam and always rock n’ roll!

Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” Don’t follow others but listen to who you are and make fashion your own trend. The 2012 shoe collections has something in store for all women – you just have to find the shoe that will appeal to you!
