Club Monaco launches the Fall 2016 Collection infused with a renewed softness, highlighting fresh fabrics and relaxed silhouettes.

This fall, the Club Monaco woman exudes femininity, experimenting with ruffles, floral prints and delicate details balanced by a utilitarian sensibility. Traditional silhouettes reminiscent of the turn of the century are styled with the 1990’s in mind, bringing a sense of modernity to the collection. Ruffles are meant to be layered, paired with long, clean trenches and military inspired trousers. Slip dressing is also key, with lingerie inspired pieces layered atop ruffleneck and ribbed knits. Updated sleeves play an important role, showcasing gathering at the shoulder and experimentation with sleeve shape.

“We’re really feeling for a turn to femininity and a shift from structure to softness,” said Caroline Belhumeur, creative director and SVP of women’s designs. “There is an element of 90’s styling paired with the influence of the turn of the century that plays with ruffles, gathering, and volume in a Club Monaco way.”

The collection’s July capsule revolves around a fresh, but transitional palette of whites and blues injected with shades of dusty peach, with floral prints as a focus. In August, white and muslin give way to greens and khakis that pair feminine elements and military details and railroad stripes with ease. Lily pinks and Victorian rose play off of this military inspired palette in September, providing a fresh take on casual feminine style.

The men’s collection also plays with the idea of relaxed softness, focusing on classic patterns executed in sophisticated fabrications and casual silhouettes. “We’re inspired by 90’s patterning and playing with classic men’s fabrics and more technical yarns,” noted Belhumeur. Traditional railroad stripes are updated in a slouchy trouser, while tailored moleskin and corduroy are also introduced. Soft ombre plaids are paired with pleated trousers that are more generous in shape and floral patterns act as a common thread throughout the season emerging in accent pieces such as shirting, ties, and pocket squares.
