"Fashion is a mode of expression of one’s personality and is individualistic. It is about understanding your personality, body types and also adapting trends accordingly,” ~ Fashion Designer Shruti Sancheti

Inspired by the eclectic tribes, the original style wanderers, Bohomania, designer Shruti Sancheti’s new collection, celebrates the magpie soul of the hilly life. Traditional folk styles form the core narrations in a rich palette of beetroot, sage, indigo and coffee. Signature boho silhouettes are rendered to meet the urban cuts such as tunic dress, poet shirts, tiered maxi, and fluid pants.

The perennial favourite hand embroidered stitches are revisited in eclectic flour as traditional motifs fromEast European and Mexican crafts. Pompom details, silk fringes and woollen tassels add to the eclectic vibe of this gypsy collection.

How do you define fashion in your own words?

Fashion is a mode of expression of one’s personality and is individualistic. It is about understanding your personality, body types and also adapting trends accordingly.

What is the inspiration behind the couture collection?

My inspiration behind every collection is a lady who understands understated elegance and believes in restrained opulence, and one who is beyond trends and loves timeless clothes and firmly upholds the philosophy of less is more. So my couture collection adheres to these same principles and is impeccably finished and immaculately designed with luxurious handcrafted fabrics and ornate, intricate craft. The idea is to create eternal pieces passed down to generations.

What has been your most memorable moment or collection till date?

My most memorable collection till date has been my debut collection at Lakme Fashion Week in March 2012 called Sufianna. As the name suggests it was a transcendent collection consisting of pristine white silk in fluid voluminous silhouettes with extensive use of Mughal block printing techniques and carpet embroidery. This collection summed the brand the most and is a perennial favourite not only of mine but my clients and buyers.
