The new season calls for a wardrobe makeover. While some might choose to wear last year's summer clothes, body-conscious women are more likely to spend more on their outfits, reveals a new research.
The survey conducted by money saving site NetVoucherCodes.co.uk found that British women spend almost 15 percent more on updating their summer closet, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
The participants admitted to spending over 160 pounds on average just on a new coat and boots for the winter season. But the cost of two bikinis alone raised the summer total by 110 pounds.
They said they felt that splashing out on a new bikini was a necessity when it came to summer shopping.
The survey found that a fashion conscious woman would pay 55 pounds on average per bikini due to a desire to look good on the beach.
“It is surprising that we spend more on our summer wardrobe -- but when you factor in holiday clothes you can understand why. During the winter very few of us have that additional expenditure," said a spokeswoman for NetVoucherCodes.co.uk.
“Looking good on the beach is important to us and we are prepared to pay a premium for something with added support and something that slims us down. The additional swimwear really brings the summer cost up," added the spokesperson.
