The Mind Body Connection – How Thoughts Create Your Reality

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 12 Feb, 2014 04:24 AM
  • The Mind Body Connection – How Thoughts Create Your Reality
Do you want to bring more joy into your life by manifesting your dreams and goals to reality? A dream job? Your own home? What about a dream vacation with your life partner? Imagine what it would feel like if your wishes came true. This is all possible by using tools that will help activate the universal law of attraction. The law of attraction is a force that like gravity pulls things from your external environment into your surroundings. It helps you actualize what you want into the physical realm.

The law of attraction states that your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. All forms of matter and energy are attracted to that which is of a like vibration. But how does this occur? The law of attraction can be best explained by the information filtering system of the brain known as the reticular activating system (RAS).

The law of attraction programs the RAS to prioritize and tune into external stimuli that can help us get closer to our intentions.  The RAS is actually like a radio that helps you tune into a specific frequency that resonates with you. It is a personal expression of who you are, like a fingerprint. What do you like? What are you passionate about?

The human brain can handle up to 100 trillion bits of information at any given time.

The RAS helps you focus on what is important for you and brings it to the forefront. Everything else remains in the background. The RAS can’t distinguish between a real event and something that is contrived in our mind. Because of this, you can play with different techniques that stimulate the RAS to pay attention to certain things in your environment that are in tune with your goals and visions.

It’s like when you hear your name in a crowd. Your mind is able to distinguish what is relevant to you. This selective attention filter makes you aware of daily things that can help you achieve your goals. All we need to do is act upon those opportunities when they present themselves. These opportunities are known as synchronicities, which are normally thought of as coincidences.

There are many tools that you can use to activate the law of attraction and trick the RAS. But before we do this, you need to learn to quiet the mind and focus on what you want. It is important to know how to achieve this stillness inside of us; otherwise none of these tools will be effective.

Mind body approaches to quiet the mind include:

• meditation/ mindfulness
• hypnosis
• guided imagery
• biofeedback/ autogenic training
• breathing and movement
• yoga
• qui gong
• tai chi
• cognitive behavioral therapy
• self expression through words, drawings or drama
• Spirituality/ faith.

These are psychological techniques that help you let go of your past. These techniques take you into a relaxed state that helps you declutter your mind of negative thoughts so that you can have more room for that which is positive.

Choose the technique that works for you. Or combine more than one into a magical mix that will be your gateway into transforming your life and moulding it into the way you want.

Let go of fears and insecurities. Negativity can have very powerful effect on your surroundings. Dr. Masuru Emoto’s ground breaking research on water is more proof of how the mind influences the body and its surroundings. Water has no taste or smell. But it has amazing properties that most people are not even aware of. Water is the basis that not only supports, but allows the existence of life.
Dr. Emoto has been documenting molecular changes in water by means of photographic techniques.

After freezing droplets of water, he looks at degree of crystal formation under a dark field microscope. The more complete the crystals, the more energized the water.  Energized water has its molecules returned to its original life giving moisturizing state. This allows for maximum absorption of water into the cells of human bodies, pets and plants.  You get better hydration, better nutrient intake and increased toxin elimination.

Dr. Emoto and his colleagues decided to see how thoughts and words would effect the formation of untreated, distilled water crystals.  He used words typed onto paper and taped them onto glass bottles overnight.  Water exposed to words like “you fool” formed asymmetrical, poor crystals. Water exposed to words like “love and gratitude” formed the most beautiful, complete crystals. This shows us that water reacts to actual words. Intention is critical. Our minds affect physical reality.

Water is alive and highly responsive to every one of our emotions and thoughts. This is revealed through specific changes in the crystals formed in frozen water.

If words and thoughts can affect a glass of water, imagine what they do to us.

We are made up of 90% water when we’re born. Water connects us with our own awareness, helping us open layers inside of us. The next time you get into a negative state of mind, pause and reflect.  The negativity is circulating inside of you, in your blood.
How do we bring about change? First step is awareness. “I am stressed out”. What is causing the stress? The second step is understanding. Why is this causing me stress?

The third step is action. What are my coping strategies and how do I change them?

Once you become more aware of yourself and clear your mind of your baggage, you are ready to take the next step. Sit quietly and set your intent. Allow yourself to be in the moment and be open to receive. Ask yourself what you want. Maybe one word will be your answer. Just be with that and you will be guided. Going through this process will deepen the whole experience. Your ego will step aside so that you can really go into the core of who you are. This will add clarity as you live your future in your mind. It’s all about adding dimension to your desires and feelings to your vision.

Vision Board

Our brain thinks in images. One way to activate the law of attraction is by surrounding yourself with pictures, or images that match who you want to become and what you want in your life. Be specific. You may not be sure of what you want. Are you recovering from a period of depression or grief? Do you have an idea of what you want, but are not exactly sure? Or do you know what you want change but don’t know how? That’s okay. Just tear out images that delight you, and don’t ask why.

You can explore what the image is telling you later. If you don’t get the answer right away put the image on your vision board anyway – it will have an answer for you soon. Our egos think that we know what we want, but a lot of times our desires are not in alignment with who we are. The vision board therefore goes deeper than just getting what we want. The vision board is a dynamic piece of art that shifts and changes as you change. It can tell you a story that speaks to you and teaches you about your passion.

Journaling

Write down your secret wishes and blend fact with fiction. There is abundance all around you, so let your imagination expand. Sky’s the limit.  Make sure that you write about that which evokes a strong emotional response.

If you change the wording of the mind, you will notice change. The words will create a lasting impact as you allow them to bathe in the depths of your subconscious.

Also, don’t forget to express thanks for the gifts you have received with a gratitude list. Most of the time, we take our gifts for granted and can not recall what they are, especially when we are sad, depressed or frustrated. A gratitude list will help you change negative habits to positive ones, bringing you closer spiritually and to those things that you have always wanted.

We are all using the law of attraction in some way or the other, whether we are aware of it or not. If we want to take advantage of the hidden power of this gift, we need to be observant and act upon what we receive. Look for synchronicities, and the doors will open for you.
Using the law of attraction is like learning a dance routine and can be applied to every walk of life. It presents itself to us through the most element law of physics: like attracts like.

Medical research has proven that our subconscious brain can not distinguish an event taking place in our thoughts (visualization through images or words) or an event taking place in reality. The same neurological pathways get fired in both the cases. Our subconscious mind is about 90% of your total mind power and it accepts anything that it is exposed to: positive or negative. It is up to you to decide what you chose.

Life is rich…the possibilities are endless. Everything you can imagine is real. Don’t put a limit on anything, for the more you dream the farther you get. Try these scientifically proven methods and see for yourself.
